What is Champions Special Ministries?

Champions Special Ministries presents excellent programs and events to the underserved Special Needs Community across the country. We present 3 and 5 day Day Camps on your site, and we also have an excellent evening program called Night of Champions. See our Programs pages for more information. We are a nonprofit 501(c)3 corporation based in Overland Park, Kansas.

When was Champions founded?

Champions was founded in 2012 by Alison Gromer. Alison has been working with individuals with Special Needs, their families and communities since 1985. Read more about Alison

Does your staff have experience?

Champions has two levels of staff: local Coach/Volunteers, and Champions Ministry Staff.

The Champions Ministry Staff consists of individuals with a heart for ministry who are trained to work with numerous disabilities. Some are paid, and some are volunteers.

Coach/Volunteer are people like you and me, some older some younger, some experienced and some with no experience, all of whom want to work with special individuals!  Before each event, all Volunteer Staff receive several hours of training to prepare them to work with individuals with Special Needs.

Is Champions Special Ministries Insured?

Yes!

How can I arrange a camp at my church, school or organization?

Please let us know if you are interested in hosting a Champions camp at your site. While the schedule may fill up quickly, we do still have a  few openings. See the calendar of events for more information.

How do I pay for a Camp Registration or an item in your store?

Champions uses a secure online registration system powered by Paypal. The system is easy and fast – and you can use your Paypal account, or your own credit card to register.

We will also have a portable credit card systems on each Day Camp site so you can make merchandise purchases.

Can I register on-site when we arrive at the event? Can I pay with cash, or a check?

No. Registration must be completed and paid for at least 7 days before the camp begins, allowing us to plan and organize the camp and staffing needs. Our online registration pages are easy to understand and use!

You may send us a check for registration payment if it arrives at least 10 days before the camp begins. We prefer not to take cash for registration but can accept cash for store merchandise on-site.

You’ll be able to pay for camp merchandise and photos on-site from Champions Store – coming soon!! We will have mobile credit card processing at each event.

My child has special dietary or medical needs. Who should I tell?

When you Register online, you’ll have the opportunity to let Champions know about special diet needs or medical concerns. We care deeply about your child – and will work with you and with our staff to make sure your child has the best possible camp experience.

Are their trained medical staff at Day Camps?

We have registered nurses at all day camps. We also train our staff how to respond in case of an emergency.

We always develop an emergency plan for each Day Camp site in case there is a need.

What is the emergency contact information?

Champions does maintain an emergency number. Call or text (913) 638-6823 if your situation is urgent. Please use discretion so you don’t unnecessarily interrupt the Camp experience.

My child’s camp experience was simply outstanding. How can I tell other people about Champions?
